Plastic Molding Technology works closely with clients when they may choose alternative sourcing options for production of molded products. We have successfully received over 750 molds transferred since 2005. Our extensive years of experience in mold design, processing and validation have been proven.
Initially we gather as much information as possible about the project, cavities, cycle times, part samples and quality documents. Other important information will be needed such as allowable regrind percentage, part weight, runner weight, shot weight, mold dimensions (Width, Height, and Stack Height), press tonnage and a copy of the mold design.
Once that information is input to our engineering estimator, molding quotes can be submitted to the customer for review prior to award.
Upon issuance of an order, we create a transfer team consisting of the customer, and members of our production planning, quality, manufacturing, and engineering groups.
Jointly we develop a plan for the shipment of tools, supporting equipment, and resin for a smooth transfer.
Sampling, quality checks and validation are done in accordance with the customer’s requirements prior to volume production. The PPAP or other agreed method of qualification may be used accordingly.
